What a Prop Firm Evaluation Really Costs
The advertised entry fee is almost never what you end up spending. Here is how to work out the real number for any firm you are considering — including ours, with our figures published in full so you can run the comparison yourself.
Why Entry Fee ≠ Real Cost
Few traders pass on the first attempt. If a firm charges per attempt with no retake, your real cost is the entry fee multiplied by the number of attempts you need. If a firm includes a retake, look at what the retake costs you in terms other than money. Always calculate cost-per-funded-account, not cost-per-attempt.
The Four Questions to Ask Any Firm
Is there a second fee after you pass?
Some models split the cost: a low fee to enter the evaluation, and an activation fee once you pass. Neither is hidden if the firm publishes both, but a headline entry price that omits the second number is not the real price.
What does a failed attempt cost?
Either you buy the evaluation again, or the firm includes a retake. If a retake is included, find out what changes on it — the split, the drawdown, the daily loss limit. "Free" is a word to be suspicious of.
What is the minimum withdrawal and the first payout date?
A low fee is worth less if your first realistic payout is months away. Check the minimum withdrawal amount and how long after your first funded trade you can request one.
What are the commissions?
Per-side commission is a running cost that never appears in the headline price but comes out of every trade you place.
Our Answers, In Full
We are not going to rank other firms on price here. We have not verified their current numbers ourselves, prop firm pricing changes without notice, and quoting a competitor's fee we cannot stand behind would be exactly the kind of thing this page is warning you about. Instead, here is every cost figure on our side, so you can put it next to whichever firms you are actually considering.
